Andreas Delfs and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra
The end of the 2008-09 season at Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra marks the close of Andreas Delfs’ Music Directorship. Delfs’ development of the orchestra over these years has been highly appreciated across the city, with the Express Milwaukee noting that Delfs ‘will leave a vastly improved ensemble and a revitalized organization. Whatever heights are achieved in the future, the Delfs years will forever be the era in which the MSO went from pretty good to better than good.’ The Journal Sentinel Online also comments on Delfs’ lasting impression on the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra: ‘Delfs never lets music pass idly. He seeks dramatic meaning and formal import in every bar. After 12 years of Delfs, the MSO’s players think that way, too.’
