Isabelle Faust wins ECHO Klassik Award

Isabelle Faust has received a prestigious ECHO Klassik Award for her critically acclaimed recording of Beethoven Violin Sonatas on the Harmonia Mundi label with pianist Alexander Melnikov. Awarded the “Chamber Music Recording of the Year (19th Century)”, this accolade places Faust amongst other award winners such as Bryn Terfel, Tabea Zimmermann, Mariss Jansons, and Paavo Jarvi.

Released in 2009, the recordings were warmly received by critics internationally:
“...Faust and Melnikov make this music live and breathe more thrillingly than in any recent recording I can recall...”
CD of the Week, The Sunday Times, 6 September 2009

“...Isabelle Faust‘s pure, focused playing sparkles: her sound lives and breathes, always knowing where it wants to go next ... Once started you cannot stop listening...”
Bayerische Rundfunk, September 2009

This year, following on from the success of her Beethoven recording, Faust has already released a recording of the Bach Sonatas and Partitas, again receiving stunning reviews, and has recorded the Brahms concerto with Daniel Harding and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, due for release in 2011.
