Matthew Halls joins Hazard Chase
We are very pleased to welcome conductor Matthew Halls onto the Hazard Chase roster for General Management. Artistic Director of The King’s Consort, Matthew Halls has established himself as one of today’s leading young conductors. His recent engagements include performances in prominent venues including Het Concertgebouw, Amsterdam; La Cité de la Musique, Paris; the Konzerthaus, Berlin; and at the Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels. Having initially established his reputation as a keyboard player, Halls has worked extensively with many of Europe’s foremost early music groups and in opera houses including The Netherlands Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Komische Oper Berlin, as well as at venues such as The Megaron, Athens, Lincoln Center, New York and Wiener Festwochen. He has long associations with both The Netherlands Opera and Nationale Reisopera Holland.
The 2007/8 season firmly established Halls as a conductor of international repute, with significant debuts with the Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Hessischer Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester, Norrköping Sinfonieorchester and Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo. Current engagements include concerts with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Portland Baroque Orchestra, The English Concert, Holland Baroque Society and the RTE Concert Orchestra, in addition to a tour with the Balthazar Neumann Orchestra and Choir conducting Handel La Resurrezione. In June 2009, he makes his debut with Central City Opera, Colorado conducting a new production of Handel Rinaldo.
