The Hilliard Ensemble: a month of premieres
The Hilliard Ensemble gives the world premiere of Wolfgang Rihm’s major new work Et Lux in Köln on 15 November together with The Arditti Quartet. Commissioned by KölnMusik, Festival d’Automne Paris and Carnegie Hall, New York, Et Lux is then given local premieres in Paris on 17 November and New York on 2 December. The artists also give the UK premiere at the opening concert of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival on 20 November. Further performances are scheduled throughout 2010 with concerts in Germany, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.
Furthermore, The Hilliard Ensemble and The Arditti Quartet present the UK premiere of James Clarke’s Untitled No. 4 and the world premiere of Simon Bainbridge’s Tenebrae, a new work specially commissioned by The Hilliard Ensemble for their weekend mini-festival at London’s Wigmore Hall on 6 & 7 November.
