Junichi Hirokami appointed Chief Conductor of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra

Junichi Hirokami has been appointed Chief Conductor of the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra. His three year tenure commences in April 2008 and will include several subscription concert weeks each year in addition to special concerts at Kyoto Concert Hall and touring to other Japanese Halls, including performances at Tokyo’s prestigious Suntory Hall. This appointment brings about especially exciting opportunities to forge new links between the symphonies of Kyoto and Columbus in the United States, where Hirokami is already in places as Music Director.
