Jennifer Koh releases a new recital recording on the Cedille label to rave reviews

"...Koh plays a Strad that once belonged to Arthur Grumiaux, which is appropriate; even in the Adams, her playing is elegant and aristocratic, like Grumiaux’s would have been if he were a contemporary American..."

Jennifer Koh's latest release on the Cedille label, String Poetic, has received stunning reviews from Strings Magazine and The Gramophone. Having already received plaudits from publications such as The New York Times and Chicago Magazine, the CD is described in The Gramophone as "...a bracing American programme, which makes a worthy scaffolding for the musician’s blend of lyric introspection and dynamic sizzle..."

The recording takes its name from the title of a work written for her by the eminent American composer Jennifer Higdon. Alongside the Higdon, Koh has programmed works by Carl Ruggles, Lou Harrison and John Adams - his Road Movies, which has become such a central part of the repertoire in recent years.

"...everything here is immediately communicative, thanks not only to the composers’ styles, but also to the finesse of Koh and pianist Reiko Uchida..."
Strings, October 2008

"...A discerning and individual programme of 20th - and 21st - century violin Americana, given energetic, communicative performances by Jennifer Koh and Reiko Uchida.  Don’t be surprised if Higdon’s String Poetic follows Adams’s Road Movies into the regular concert repertoire..."
The Gramophone, October 2008

Koh's current season includes engagements with Houston Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony and Minnesota Orchestra, as well as performances at the 92nd Street Y. Please see Jennifer's highlights section to read the reviews in full.
