Stephen Layton brings DR Vocal Ensemble to London
Stephen Layton will be conducting the Danish Radio Vocal Ensemble in a concert at St John Smith's Square on Sunday, 20th April. This is a rare opportunity to hear one of Europe's finest choirs in London perform with their Principal Guest Conductor, a much more frequent artist at St John Smith's Square! The programme features works by Carl Nielsen - arguably Denmark's most famous musical son - and the less well known Niels La Cour, alongside Poulenc's pinnacles of the choral repertoire, the Chansons françaises and Sept chansons.
Please contact Sarah Trelawny for more information: sarah.trelawny@hazardchase.co.uk.
Tickets are available from the St John's Smith Square box office, on 020 7222 1061.

Stephen Layton recently recorded Poulenc's Gloria and sacred choral music, to fantastic reviews:
Polyphony – Poulenc Gloria and other choral works:
“…music making of immense power and vibrancy … brilliantly directed by Layton … it is the vivid sense of unfettered joy in the Gloria and the matchless intensity of feeling revealed in the motets that make this such a gloriously distinguished disc.”
Gramophone, April 2008
“…absolutely electric … this terrific album. When the massed forces of Polyphony, the Britten Sinfonia and the Trinity College Choir ring out at full strength, the sound is simply incredible…”
