Jennifer Pike debut CD release impresses

Jennifer Pike's debut album of French violin sonatas with pianist Martin Roscoe has received generous and widespread praise from reviewers, with BBC Music Magazine commenting on Pike’s 'beautiful singing tone' and Gramophone highlighting her impressive interpretation of the Debussy Violin Sonata in which ‘the brilliant passages [are] dispatched with gusto, the grotesque moments given their due and the slinky, sensual episodes suitably alluring.’ Julian Haylock from Classic FM Magazine is also full of praise for Pike’s ‘gloriously inspired stream of musical consciousness...dazzling interpretative flair and exemplary technique [which] combine to create one of the most outstanding debut violin albums of recent years.’

The disc was recorded in Aldeburgh in December 2010 and is the first of her exclusive contract with Chandos. Pike also features on another recent Chandos release of Rózsa orchestral music with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Rumon Gamba, playing Rózsa’s Variations on a Hungarian Peasant Song.
