Hazard Chase Artists at the BBC Proms 2011

The BBC Proms have announced this year’s performances. Throughout July to September there will be many opportunities to hear Hazard Chase artists at a wide variety of performances:

Prom 1: Friday 15 July  Benjamin Grosvenor opens the Proms playing Liszt Piano Concerto No. 2 with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Jiri Belohlavek. This is a celebration of the Liszt 200th anniversary year and the Proms’ special focus on the piano in the 2011 season. This prom is televised on BBC 2.

Prom 4: Sunday 17 July  Alastair Miles will appear in Havergal Brian's Symphony No. 1 in D minor "The Gothic" with the combined forces of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Martyn Brabbins.

Prom 28: Thursday 4 August  The Tallis Scholars and Peter Phillips return to give a late night Prom of work by Tomas Luis de Victoria, whose 400th anniversary it is this year. 

Prom 30: Saturday 6 August  Benjamin Grosvenor’s second appearance at the Proms is a performance of the Britten Piano Concerto with the National Youth Orchestra and Vladimir Jurowski. This prom is televised on BBC 2.

Prom 32: Sunday 7 August  Christopher Purves returns to the Royal Albert Hall to sing Mahler's song cycle Das klagende Lied with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Edward Gardner.

Prom 50: Sunday 21 August  Stephen Layton will conduct the City of London Sinfonia in a new commission by Colin Matthews, No Man’s Land. Polyphony will join the CLS to perform Mozart’s Requiem with soloists including Emma Bell, Roderick Williams and Ian Bostridge.

Prom 73: Friday 9 September Andrew Kennedy sings Max in the Weber (arr. Berlioz) version of Der Freischütz with the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique conducted by John Eliot Gardiner.

Prom Matinee 3: Saturday 27 August  Robert Hollingworth conducts the BBC Singers in an afternoon concert at Cadogan Hall.
