Hazard Chase is delighted to announce that conductor Cristian Mandeal has joined the company for general management. Cristian Mandeal is Music Director and Principal Conductor of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra in Bucharest. Recent positions have also included Artistic Director of the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra in Spain and Principal Guest Conductor of the Hallé Orchestra.

A pupil of both Karajan and Celidibache, Cristian Mandeal has appeared with, amongst others, the Staatskapelle Dresden, Münchener Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Berlin, Hessisches Rundfunk, City of Birmingham Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic and Israel Philharmonic, and at the Vienna State Opera, Edinburgh Festival and Bloomington Festival.

James Brown, Managing Director of Hazard Chase, comments “When I saw Cristian conduct for the first time, I recognised that here was a conductor of rare musicianship and authority. Conducting is an elusive art and not always easily assessed, but I immediately realised that Cristian was the kind of distinctive and charismatic musician that orchestras and audiences long for. We look forward greatly to working with him.”
