Stephen Wallace features in new Handel recording

The Early Opera Company and Chandos Records have just released the first complete recording of Handel’s Semele on period instruments.  Handel’s Semele HWV 58 (CHAN 0745 - 3) is a musical entertainment in three acts with an English libretto by William Congreve, edited by Clifford Bartlett.  The title role is taken by Rosemary Joshua and other cast members include Stephen Wallace, Hilary Summers, Brindley Sherratt and Richard Croft.  The opera was recorded in All Saint’s Church, East Finchley in April 2007.
