Following the success of The Full Monteverdi at the Southbank Centre's Early Music Weekend in 2004, the project returns, now transformed into a film, for a special preview screening as part of Encounters 2007.
The Full Monteverdi is a film by John La Bouchardière and features RPS award-winning vocal ensemble I Fagiolini. Developed from the acclaimed live show, which toured widely around the UK, continental Europe and as far as Jerusalem and New York, The Full Monteverdi transforms Monteverdi's Fourth Book of Madrigals into a gritty ensemble film following the break-up of six couples.
Filmed on HD, The Full Monteverdi is scheduled for world-wide release on DVD by NAXOS later in 2007, with ensuing broadcasts already planned by S4C (Wales), SkyArts (UK), YLE (Finland), SVT (Sweden), NRK (Norway), CTV (Czech Republic) and The Arts Channel (New Zealand).
