Acclaim for Hazard Chase artists in USA

Olli Mustonen, Masaaki Suzuki and Anthony Marwood appear in New York and Boston to great acclaim.

Masaaki Suzuki and Bach Collegium Japan appeared at Carnegie Hall to give a performance of Bach’s Mass in B Minor and commemorated the victims of the recent tragic events in Japan; the New York Times called it “an involving, insightful and honest performance. The chorus and orchestra brought fitting exuberance to the Gloria and quiet intensity to the haunting “Et incarnatus est.” The audience, clearly moved, gave the courageous visitors from Japan a long ovation.”

At Avery Fisher Hall Olli Mustonen gave three critically acclaimed concerts with the New York Philharmonic under Esa-Pekka Salonen, with the New York Times describing Mustonen’s performance of Bartok’s Piano Concerto No. 1 as a “spectacular account...all coiled intensity and electric release, with athleticism and finesse from the soloist...”

At the end of the week, Anthony Marwood played the Thomas Adès Violin Concerto, which was written for him. His performance with the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by the composer, was hailed as “a reading that was deft, vigorous, and coolly gleaming” by The Boston Globe.
