Martin Yates conducts Turnage world premiere
This month Martin Yates conducts the world premiere of a new work by Mark Anthony Turnage. Turnage’s new concerto for double bassist John Patitucci, A Prayer out of Stillness, uses both string bass and six string electric bass guitar, with improvisation opportunities throughout the work. The premiere takes place on 18 October with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra.In the same month, Yates has three new recordings of British repertoire being released by Dutton Records. The recordings feature works by Richard Arnell, Thomas Dunhill and Erik Chisholm and include performances with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and BBC Concert Orchestra; and soloists Roderick Williams and Ailish Tynan.
