Some Enchanted Evening

Devised by West End International, The World of Rodgers & Hammerstein – Some Enchanted Evening is a spectacular, romantic concert containing over twenty of their wonderful songs.  Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein were the most popular writers of their day.  From 1941 to 1959 they wrote five of the most successful and enduring musicals ever produced – Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King & I and The Sound of Music. Had their collaboration produced only one of these they would still have been celebrated as the most successful creators of musical theatre the world has known; as it is the volume of their work provides an abundance of material for this superb concert.

As well as perfectly capturing the wholesome American aspects of real life, Oscar Hammerstein allows us to see that even the less attractive side of human nature needs to be understood.  His brilliant lyrics mine the emotional and spiritual depth of his characters while Richard Rodgers’ truly great symphonic scores match Hammerstein’s words with musical perfection.

The concert has enjoyed great success around the world and has been performed by orchestras including the City of Birmingham Symphony, Royal Scottish National, Melbourne Symphony, New Zealand Symphony, Tasmanian Symphony and Swedish Chamber.

The company from West End International will include 2 or 4 specialist singers and a conductor. All musical parts and scores are provided. The promoter provides symphony orchestra and (optional) chorus. Guest artists can be considered.
