About the Project

In December 2014 the unique twenty year collaboration between jazz saxophonist Jan Garbarek and The Hilliard Ensemble came to a close with a final wonderful concert in King’s College Chapel, Cambridge. Officium was released in 1994 on the ECM label and became one of the most successful and best-selling classical recordings of all time; brought together by Manfred Eicher, this was the first of The Hilliard Ensemble’s collaborations with the Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek and was followed equally successfully by Mnemosyne and Officium Novum.

The Hilliard Ensemble has now retired from public performance and we wish them all the best of luck in the future.

Here is a look back at their final Officium tour in collaboration with Jan Garbarek in 2014
