Bernstein on Broadway with Carl Davis

Bernstein on Broadway was devised by the composer/conductor Carl Davis.  The content is drawn mainly from the four outstanding, but very different Broadway musicals written by Leonard Bernstein between 1944 and 1957: On The Town (1944), Wonderful Town (1953), Candide (1956) and West Side Story (1957).

Each has been repeatedly and successfully revived, and has found its place in the pantheon of Broadway classics along with shows by Gershwin, Kern, Porter, Rodgers and Loewe.  Bernstein's scores are works of genius and repay studying and performing, over and over again.  Bernstein on Broadway is conducted by Carl Davis with a cast of 3 singers and full symphony orchestra. The show was toured in the UK by the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera and in Germany by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the summer of 2007.

Future touring periods: summers 2008 and 2009.
