Kremerata Baltica / Gidon Kremer

Gidon Kremer - Violin Soloist and Artistic Leader

Kremerata Baltica was launched in 1997 by Gidon Kremer and is already a prominent musical force on the international scene. Through his work with this orchestra, Gidon Kremer strives to pass on his vast musical experience to young musicians from the three Baltic nations, whilst promoting and nurturing the newly revived independent musical life of that region. The ensemble gives roughly 60 performances per year, and in April 2006 undertook an extensive tour of the UK taking in major musical centres including London, Oxford, Edinburgh and Aldeburgh. The Kremerata participated in the BBC's Gubaidulina weekend at the Barbican Centre in January 2007, and return to the UK in October 2007 for a further performance at London's Barbican Centre as well as to open the season at Glasgow's City Halls.

"...The result was like a musicians' party: a lot of fun...but the music came first, second and third. A revelation indeed..."
The Financial Times, April 2006
