Following his UK debut, which he gave with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra at Aldeburgh Festival in June, Tito Muñoz returns to the country this month for two projects with the Ulster Orchestra, part of the BBC Radio 3 Summer Invitation Concerts series.

For his afternoon concert with the orchestra, taking place at Ulster Hall on Tuesday, 14th August, Tito brings music from fellow New York native, composer Jessie Montgomery, whose Starburst is opening the performance. It is followed by Stravinsky’s Danses Concertantes and Schumann’s Symphony No 4.

On Friday, 17th August, Tito joins the orchestra for an evening concert during which BBC New Generation Artist Aleksey Semenenko is the soloist in Sibelius’ Violin Concerto. The rest of the programme features works by American composers – Nina C. Young’s 2012 “sonic experience” composition Remnants, and Howard Hanson’s three-movement Symphony No 2 “Romantic”, described by its author as “a work young in spirit, Romantic in temperament, and simple and direct in expression”.
