Christian Kluxen takes to the podium in Bodø and Tromsø this week to conduct his inaugural concerts as Chief Conductor of the Arctic Philharmonic. Combining Norwegian and Danish flavours, Kluxen opens with Rondo Marziale by Ludvig Irgens-Jensen and closes with Nielsen’s Symphony no. 4 “The Inextinguishable”. In between, he joins with pianist Georgy Tchaidze for Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
The collaboration follows a highly successful run of Ariadne auf Naxos, conducted by Kluxen with the Arctic Opera in 2017. Expressing his feelings about his new post, Kluxen said:
“These musicians play at an incredibly high level, which for many is inconceivable to find in a region like Northern Norway. I look forward not only to contributing to the Arctic Philharmonic, but also to learning a huge amount from the musicians.”
