This week marks the start of Benjamin Grosvenor’s eight-week-long tour of North America, beginning in Philadelphia where he joins conductor Nathalie Stutzmann for three performances of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in his first appearance with The Philadelphia Orchestra. The programme, which is given at Philadelphia’s Verizon Hall on 28th February and 1st and 2nd March, is completed by Haydn’s Symphony No. 94 “Surprise” and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4.
As part of his North American tour, Benjamin will give recitals in San Francisco, Québec, Miami, Portland and Saratoga, and perform concertos with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and The Florida Orchestra, before venturing to Chicago to give his debut performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, playing Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 under the baton of Emmanuel Krivine, in mid-April.
