Hazard Chase is delighted to welcome the young Ukrainian baritone Igor Onishchenko to the vocal roster. Igor is currently in his third and final year as an ensemble member at Wiener Staastoper, where his roles have included Schaunard La bohème, Bello La fanciulla del West, Masetto Don Giovanni, Sciarrone Tosca, Imperial Commissioner Madama Butterfly and Antonio Le nozze di Figaro. Later this season he will make his role debut as Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia for Israeli Opera.

Born in Odessa, Ukraine, Igor studied at the National Nezhdanova Academy of Music before making his operatic debut in 2015 at the Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse. He was a semi-finalist at the 2015 Neue Stimmen International Singing Competition and quarter-finalist at Operalia in 2019.

His current repertoire also includes Count Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro, Dandini La Cenerentola, Mercutio Romeo et Juliette, title role Eugene Onegin, Belcore L’elisir d’amore, Malatesta Don Pasquale, Marcello La bohème, Ping Turandot, Prince Yeletsky Queen of Spades and Robert Iolanta.
