Martin Yates returns to conduct the National Ballet of Japan with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra at the New National Theatre in Tokyo. The performances, on January 11th, 12th and 13th, will mark the new year, and feature a selection of choreographed pieces, including a Japanese Premiere.
The first piece is “Serenade”, featuring a score by Tchaikovsky with choreography by George Balanchine. This is followed by “Raymonda, Pas de Deux” and “Le Corsaire, Pas de Deux”, with music by Glazunov and Riccardo Drigo, and choreography by Maki Asami and Marius Petipa respectively. Concluding the performance is the Japanese Premiere of the one act piece “DGV” by Christopher Wheeldon, with music by Michael Nyman.
