Helmut Rilling, the founder and Artistic Director of the Oregon Bach Festival, passes the baton to his successor Matthew Halls on 6 July.
Matthew Halls first performed at the festival in 2011, after which he was immediately invited to take the position of Artistic Director. He has since performed annually in Oregon and his Artistic Directorship commences at the close of the 2013 festival.
To mark this occasion, a concert conducted by both Rilling and Halls takes place on 6 July. The first half of the concert will be conducted by Rilling, leading Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Cello in A minor, after which Halls performs Mendelssohn’s Psalm 95 and Brahms’ Schicksalslied.
